Point
In mathematics, a point is one of the fundamental entities of geometry, along with the line and the plane.
The main characteristics of a point are:
- Dimensionless: A point has no length, area, volume, or angle. It is considered a dimensionless object.
- Position: A point marks a specific location in space. It can be represented graphically as a small circle or a mark.
- Name: Points are usually named with capital letters, such as A, B, C, etc.
- Base for figures: Points are the basis for constructing other geometric figures, such as lines, segments, polygons, circles, etc.
Examples of points in geometry:
- The vertices of a triangle or a square.
- The ends of a line segment.
- The center of a circle.
- The point of intersection of two lines.
