Ordinates

Ordinate is the vertical value in an ordered pair of coordinates. It is symbolized with “y” and it is always written second, in a pair of coordinates.

The ordered pairs above denote the position of the fruits on the coordinate grid.

The first number is called the “abscissa” and denotes the horizontal position.

The second number is called the “ordinate” and denotes the vertical position.

Both numbers are called “coordinates” and they can be ordered pairs of numbers
or letters and numbers.
