Units of volume

Units of volume

The unit of volume is cubic metres (m³) in the SI (metric) system. Other commonly used units of volume include litres (L), millilitres (mL), and gallons (gal) in different systems of measurement.

Volume is the amount of space in a certain 3D object. For instance, a fish tank has 4 feet in length, 1 foot in width and two feet in height. To find the volume, you multiply length times width times height, which is 4x1x2, which equals eight. So the volume of the fish tank is 8 cubic feet.

1000 cubic centimetres, cm3 = 1 cubic decimetre, dm3
1 000 cubic decimetres, cm3 = 1 cubic metre, m3
1,000,000 cubic centimetres, cm3= 1 cubic metre, m3
1 litre, l = 1 cubic decimetre, dm3
1 milliliter, ml = 1 cubic centimetres, cm3
1 deciliter, dl = 100 ml
