Altitude of a triangle

Altitude of a Triangle

The altitude of a triangle is a perpendicular that is drawn from the vertex of a triangle to the opposite side.

The altitude makes an angle of 90° to the side opposite to it.

The altitude makes a right angle with the base of the triangle that it touches.

A triangle can have three altitudes:

  • The altitudes can be inside
  • The altitudes can be outside the triangle.
