Units of distance

Units of distance

Distance measures length. For example, the distance of a road is how long the road is.

In the metric system of measurement, the most common units of distance are millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers.

The parsec is the biggest unit of distance that is used to measure the distance between the astronomical objects that are outside the solar system.

1km –  1hm  – 1dam – 1m  – 1dm  – 1cm – 1mm
km –  kilometer  hm – hectameter    dam –  decameter     m – meter
dm – decimeter  cm –  centimeter  mm –  millimeter

1 km = 10 hm 1dam = 10 m 1 dm = 10 cm
1hm = 10 dam 1 m = 10 dm 1cm = 10 mm
1 meter = 10 decimeter

1 meter = 100 centimeter

1 meter = 1000 mm

1 meter = 0.1 decameter

1 meter = 0.01 hectameter

1 meter = 0.001 kilometer

1 dm= 0.1 m

1 cm= 0.01 m 1 mm= 0.001 m

1 da m= 10 m

1 hm= 100 m 1 km= 1000 m
