Decimal

Decimal

A decimal number consists of a whole number (integer part) and a fractional part, separated by a decimal point.

Example: 35.28 56.1 148.32

The decimal point is the dot that appears between the full number and the fractions.

For example, 25.5 is a decimal number. Here, 25 is the whole number, and 5 is the fraction (5/10 or five tenths)

To compare two or more decimal numbers:
I compare their integer part, the whole number, first. Larger is the one with a larger integer part, e.g. 45.2 > 5.123

If the integer part is equal then I compare the decimal part, starting from the left to the right of the decimal part. Biggest is the one with the most tenths or centimeters or millimeters etc. e.g. 0.135 > 0.123
