Rectangle
A rectangle is a quadrilateral in which all the angles are equal and the opposite sides are equal and parallel.
A rectangle has two pairs of opposite equal parallel sides, four right angles and two diagonals.
Diagonal AC = diagonal BD
Diagonal AC = d
Applying Pythagoras theorem to the triangle ABD, d2 = l2 + w2
l – lenght, w – width
The area of a rectangle respectively is the product of its length and width.
Area of a Rectangle = l × w
The formula used to calculate the perimeter of a rectangle:
Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(l + w)
Example:
Area = 4 ⋅ 3 = 12 cm2 Perimeter = 2 (3 + 4) = 14 cm |
A square is a rectangle with equal sides
