Value
In math, value is a number signifying the result of a calculation or function.
Examples:
- The value of 4 x 6 is 24
- The value of x + y if x = 6 and y = 3 is 9.
- y=2x + 3, the value of y if x = 4 is 11 ( y = 2 · 4+3 = 8+3=11).
- If the function f is defined by f(x) = 2x2 – 3x + 1, then assigning the value 3 to its argument x yields the function value 10, since f(3) = 2·32 – 3·3 + 1 = 10.
