Point of intersection
In mathematics, a point of intersection is the point at which two or more geometric figures meet. That is, it is the place where the figures share a common point.
Examples of intersection points:
- Two lines: If two lines are not parallel, they intersect at a single point. This point is the point of intersection of the lines.
- A line and a circle: A line can intersect a circle at two points, one point, or no point. If the line crosses the circle at two points, these points are called points of intersection.
- Two circles: Two circles can intersect at two points, one point, or no point. If the circles intersect at two points, these points are called points of intersection.
